DDRA CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
MARCH 2021
Little did we think that after our AGM on 12 March 2020 we would be in lockdown and have to cancel our AGM in 2021.
Our dedicated committee have continued to work for the benefit of the community. We have held our regular committee meetings on-line via Zoom.
Our achievements over the past 12 months have included publishing a newsletter on our website, maintaining the defibrillators, raising funds for a full circuit path around Bentley Heath park, funding and organizing the Christmas lights, submitting detailed objections to planning applications deemed to be inappropriate which includes the motorway services at junction 4 on the M42, refurbishing the planters in Bentley Heath and instigating through SMBC the clearing of a recreational field in Arden Drive.
Future dates in the diary are:
19 March Committee meet our MP Mr S Bhatti MBE
7 April Chair and Vice Chair meeting with SMBC parking and traffic department to discuss issues such as the dangerous parking in Grange Road, Dorridge
Weekend of 4,5 September opening the new St Philip’s church centre.
Early September: Dorridge Day
Our current committee have agreed to stand again next year with the exception of our secretary Liz Steel who is standing down. We welcome Rachael Taplin as our new secretary. I would like to thank all the committee for their hard work. In particular I would like to thank the gardening volunteers for the good display at Dorridge Station and the shopping area; their efforts have cheered us all up. We would welcome more committee members so please get in touch if you would like to join us.
We hope that next year we will be able to meet again in person at our AGM on Thursday 10 March 2022 starting 7.30 pm prompt at Ye Olde Knowle Bowling Club, Grange Road, Dorridge.
