Defibrillator Update - Help save a Life

Some years ago, DDRA bought four defibrillators and their cabinets to serve our local community. We are now delighted to report that we have successfully re-sited our fourth defibrillator back in the heart of Dorridge!
Previously it was situated on the old Station Café Bar but in recent years it seemed more appropriate to re-site it in the new precinct.
DDRA is very grateful to Sainsbury’s for giving permission for its precinct wall to be used and the defibrillator is now to be found outside Sainsbury’s ground floor entrance to the right of the door. (see pictures below).
This means that we once again have four local defibrillators sited on outside walls at: Sainsbury’s, Dorridge Village Hall, Bentley Heath Community Centre and at Vernon James butchers in Bentley Heath.
Each of these locations has been notified to the West Midlands Ambulance Service.
If you see someone collapsed dial 999 to alert the Ambulance Service and if necessary, they will give you the code to unlock the door of the defibrillator’s cabinet.
The defibrillator is easy to use and the person on the phone from the Ambulance Service will talk you through what to do. Early use of the defibrillator for cardiac arrest increases a person’s chances of survival significantly, so it is really good news that we have all four available again in the area.
These defibrillators are checked regularly by Terry Flower, one of our local Fast Responders. DDRA really appreciate him doing this and bringing any issues to our attention.
On many occasions over the past years Terry and his team have provided training on the use of the defibrillators to residents and we look forward to being able to restart these sessions once restrictions have eased.

DDRA would like to give a huge thank you to the manager at Sainsbury’s, Dorridge, Louise Reynolds, for all her help in arranging the siting and installation of the fourth defibrillator outside the store.
