St Philips Church Community Centre opening in September
Despite all the pandemic-induced difficulties, our new community hub is due to be open on time with a Public Open Day planned for Saturday 4th September.
Building work has continued apace with, thankfully, little or no disruption to local residents who along with other interested parties will be warmly welcomed for conducted tours of the new facilities. All of these facilities will be available to the community for social, educational and leisure use.
Following a dedication by the Bishop of Birmingham on September 5th, a preliminary programme of events (subject to Covid regulations) has been put together and will include the welcome return of the Dorridge Fun Run in late September and a Climate Change weekend in early November.
The increased capacity of the new building means that larger numbers of participants can be welcomed at special services such as Harvest Festival and Remembrance Day. There is also an opportunity for related activities to take place simultaneously in the public rooms.
St Philip’s is enormously grateful for the financial support of so many individuals who have made this project possible and we are almost there, but funding is still needed to complete the facilities on the first floor. Anyone wishing to help St Philip’s and make a contribution can find details on the website or by calling the Parish Office.
Church services are planned to return from September onwards and all information, including details of current online services, can be found at www.stphilipsandstjames.org
Interested parties and enquiries concerning room hire / weddings and wedding receptions etc are asked to contact the Parish Office on 01564 775652.
